2012 Jeep Wrangler Pickup

While the name might not be Wrangler Pickup officially, it’s been reported that Jeep plan on bringing a pickup version of the Wrangler out in the third quarter of 2011 as a 2012 model, according to a report on PickupTrucks.com.

Jeep has teased this idea before, having shown a extended-cab concept called the Jeep Gladiator in 2005 at the Detroit auto show and the standard-cab style Jeep JT in 2007 at SEMA, the massive, annual after-market accessories show. Find out more about current and upcoming Jeep Wrangler models at Jeep dealers Hartford or Jeep dealership Hartford or Jeep Hartford.

The JT was built on the standard Wrangler platform with a short bed and the 3.8-liter V-6, while the Gladiator was built with a 3.8-liter, inline-four cylinder diesel engine and was built on the extended platform used for the Wrangler Unlimited four-door. Gladiator’s bed length could be extended to eight feet with the tailgate lowered. Whether or not the bed length can be extended to hold a sheet of plywood seems less important to the target market than the vehicle’s combination of off-road ability with enough cargo capacity for the needs of dirt-bikers, sportsman and others who need to haul stuff way off the beaten track.
